I’ve been thinking a lot about my “Why” I talked about in my last email (you can read it here: https://www.laurirubinstein.com/2026/04/the-childrens-fire/) and what, really, the commitment to this “Why” is.
When you are being called forward into something, it’s really important to know your Why. You may be feeling this pull now. It feels unsettled. Like, there is something more. You can’t put your finger on it, and you still feel it.
When you’re being called forward, the unsettledness may show up as friends you were once close to but no longer feel as close to. Friends may be dropping out. You may find yourself making different choices and feeling the need to clean out and reorganize. Looking at what is really serving you at this point. A desire to create more space for yourself.
All of these are signs that there is something more, and that you are being called forward towards it.
My guess is you may have an inkling of what you are being called forward to do, but haven’t really wanted to look at it. Because if you did, what would happen to your life?? It can be scary.
You may also find your intuition and knowing are opening up even more. The things you used to blow off and decide not to deal with are becoming intolerable. You aren’t sleeping well, can’t track time, and are short on patience.
All of these are signs that there is something more for you. The big question is, are you willing to step into it? One step at a time. No need to jump into the deep end.
Spirit is calling you to remember your connection to yourself, your higher self, your soul, your guides, and the unseen support that is all around you. You are being asked to sense and feel, to move into your heart and less in your head.
It’s asking you to create something new. To take a strong stand for what is important to you, in your work and life.
The stand I am taking is that leadership needs to change! I can’t take that stand without my “why” behind it. My why is the passion that feeds me and pulls me forward when the path gets challenging.
Without a why, it’s too easy to take a blind eye to the injustices, the corruption, all that is breaking down around us. It’s not even something we do completely consciously. It’s ingrained into our culture. If it gets too hard, too challenging, or disruptive, it triggers us and brings up patterns around not being too loud, too confrontational, too honest, too direct, too assertive, etc., and the automatic mode of behavior attached to the “too much” pattern is to turn a blind eye.
When the commercial comes on that’s too hard to watch, we get up, look away, or distract ourselves. I know because I have done this too. And, it’s getting harder and harder to turn a blind eye. Can you feel that tension?
I was feeling this tension more and more. Especially when it came to children and animals. These are innocents that are greatly impacted by our decisions, and right now, I can no longer stay quiet.
My why is a commitment to making decisions in my business and my life that ensure a better future for the next generations. This starts with us and in our Leadership. It’s the small businesses that can have the biggest impact in a change in Leadership focused on this commitment.
In the World Economic Forum, they found “The estimated 400 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) worldwide account for approximately 90% of all businesses, 70% of employees, and 50% of global GDP. These entrepreneurs and their SMEs drive employment and economic output. While these businesses are small by definition, their impact is anything but. From neighborhood shops to innovative startups, SMEs turn ideas into livelihoods, are highly adaptive, and often lead the way in driving economic resilience and growth.”
On the latest official SBA benchmark, the United States has 36.2 million small businesses. They make up 99.9% of all businesses, employ 62.3 million people or 45.9% of the private-sector workforce, and account for 43.5% of U.S. GDP.
These are powerful numbers!!!
With all that said, join me, as a leader in a small business, in making decisions that honor the commitment to making the world better for the next generation.
We do this by changing the way we lead. This is Soul Guided Leadership™!
